Outdoor spaces

Westonbirt’s gorgeous grounds were created in the mid 19th century by legendary landscape gardener William Broderick Thomas. The grounds offer picturesque walks, dotted with statuary, trees, plants, a lake and a grotto. Rare trees and shrubs abound, and you catch scenic glimpses of the mansion throughout the grounds.

The Italianate Garden

Beside the House is the beautiful heritage Italianate Garden, which provides a stunning setting for outdoor receptions, drinks, breakout sessions, and photography. Sir Roy Strong called the Italianate Garden ‘one of England’s best-kept secrets’. The garden features exotic structures in the style of temples, set with mosaic floors, with freestanding gateways creating vistas over the surrounding lawns.

The Italian Gardens are available all year round, however they are particularly enchanting and inviting during the Summer months.

The Camellia House

Attached to our Italianate Gardens, the Camellia House was the original greenhouse of the Holford Family. Its endearing architecture, with extravagant wrought-iron braces that resemble lace more than structural elements, provides a small and private space for your event. Filled with blooms from autumn to spring offering vibrant colour, the Camellia House is a peaceful and unique setting for a smaller event.

St Catherine’s Chapel

Idyllic both inside and out, St Catherine’s Chapel is available for use for wedding blessings. Situated in the grounds of Westonbirt House and dating back to the 12^th century, the Chapel is dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria, the patron saint of young women and education. The Chapel can hold up to 200 people seated in pews.

Former students of the School are also eligible to get married at the Chapel.

Leisure Centre & Swimming Pool

Our fully equipped Leisure Centre and our indoor swimming pool are available for hire for sports days and other events, and regularly used for children’s parties with a range of different exciting activities. The 25m heated swimming pool can be hired for swimming events and pool parties, with a range of fun equipment (please note that currently, our pool parties are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 12.15-2.15pm only).

The Sports Hall is available to exclusive hire for events, functions, promotions and parties, and is suitable for sports events like football, netball, basketball, and badminton, as well as auctions, antique fairs, exhibitions, lectures, and product launches/demonstrations. It can also be hired for children’s parties and can hold up to 25 children, with activities available ranging roller-skating, football, cricket, go karting and more. Sports Hall hire is available Saturdays and Sundays between 10am – 4pm.
